Happy 2nd Birthday to "I Love Diet Soda"

I’m ashamed to admit it – I forgot my birthday. Well, not my real birthday but my blog birthday, which is just as important.

March 1, 2007 marked the second birthday of I Love Diet Soda. I’m a total lover of all things birthday-related so any chance I get to celebrate a birthday gives me reason for excitement.

Like I did last year, I’m going to note a couple of things that have changed in the past year. Of course, some things will never change, such as my devotion and love for all things diet soda. Here we go:

I’ve finally stopped “trying to figure out who I am.” For some time now, I’ve been on a quest to figure out exactly who Elaine is. I was constantly questioning my beliefs, motives and choices in life. And then suddenly, I stopped. I’m not saying I don’t reflect on things and have stopped trying to grow as a person, but I have stopped analyzing every stinking thing that I do like it has a deeper meaning. I’m happy and healthy and really, that’s all that matters. I know I’m growing as a person (I’m only 24 so I’ve got some growing to do), and as long as I’m content with my life and the people I surround myself with then that’s quite enough for me.

My amazement with diet soda has actually grown! Did you think was possible? I certainly didn’t. With all of the new products and flavors out there, even I’m having a hard time keeping up. This blog and my line of work are pretty good motivators for me to stay abreast on the latest diet soda news but it can be exhausting!

I’m venturing out more. Last year I was complaining about Atlanta traffic. While it certainly hasn’t gotten any better, I’m learning to explore the city and all it has to offer. Walks in Piedmont Park, happy hours at the Botanical Gardens sipping low-calorie drinks and fabulous Friday nights out at the Braves games are all a part of my regular routine.

Sure, I’ve still got a few flaws (ha!) and I’ve also still got people emailing me about the “dangers” of diet soda but I choose to ignore both. I’m okay with my flaws and I know there are no dangers to diet soda for the general population.

Happy birthday blog! Cheers to another year!
