This morning I was reading the paper and came across a rather alarming article about a proposed "obesity tax." It seems New York Governor David Paterson has proposed a 15 percent beverage tax on sodas that aren't diet as well as beverages containing less than 70 percent juice. This just seems to ridiculous to me. We all know that overweight and obesity involve a myriad of contributors, not just one single food or ingredient. Why single out beverages? Does anyone reading this live in New York? I wonder what full calorie soda drinkers think of this.....
Thank god they aren't trying to tax diet sodas as well! Although it would not affect how much I consumed, it would definitely affect how much I would have to spend on diet sodas!
