Super Bowl, Super Calories

Whether for the food, drinks, socializing, commercials or the actual game, I'm sure most Americans were watching the Super Bowl last night. Unfortunately for me, I was more interested in the appetizers and drink selections that were offered rather than the actual game. With artichoke dip, chili, chips and salsa, cookies and cornbread muffins on the table, my calorie goals were benched for the evening. Of course I washed all the goodies down with some cold diet soda, but I don't think my beverage calorie savings came close to making up for my food consumption. Apparently, I was not alone. Research by the Calorie Control Council and Snack Food Association has found that Americans will eat 30 million pounds of snacks on Super Bowl Sunday. That breaks down to 11.2 million pounds of potato chips, 8.2 million pounds of tortilla chips, 4.3 million pounds of pretzels, 3.8 million pounds of popcorn and 2.5 million pounds of nuts.

I think the only person who could have actually justified eating a ton of calories last night was Bruce Springsteen. With all his dancing and singing at the half time show, I bet he went and chowed down immediately after. I thought The Boss totally rocked. If you missed it, check it out below!

Keep an eye out in the beginning when he slides and almost takes out a camera man. The look on his face is priceless!
