I've got the Olympic Blues...

I'm pretty blue today. I love the summer Olympics...and I heart my hometown of Chicago. So there was nothing I wanted more than to be able to see that grand athletic event in my own front yard come 2016. Unfortunately, it appears I'll now be watching the event on television along with the majority of the world. My team, if you will, was knocked out in the first round of voting by the International Olympic Committee. Congratulations, Rio de Janeiro. I'm sure you are wonderful - and someday I hope to visit you - but I'm not happy that you stole this gold medal opportunity (pun intended) away from Sweet Home Chicago. After all, a Chicago Olympics would have spotlighted our gorgeous lakefront, amazing architecture, world-class museums and parks and our richly diverse neighborhoods. That type of attention could have subsequently boosted tourism dollars, new business and population growth. Don't believe me? Ask anyone in Atlanta, the city where I now reside. The 1996 Olympics had a profound impact on the city and many in the metro area consider the Games to be instrumental in transforming Atlanta into the modernized city it has become.

Anyhoo, I'll stop venting. It's Friday and the weekend is starting in just a few hours. So here are a few of the best Olympics commercials I remember seeing in recent years. Hope they put a smile on your face.
