Wow! I'm still surprised by news that PepsiCo has opted out of airing any commercials during the 2010 Super Bowl. After all, they've been producing "blockbuster" soft drink commercials during the big game for more than two decades. But apparently the company wants to focus on the promotion of its core brands through The Pepsi Refresh Project, a program that will divvy out at least $20 million for community renewal initiatives. Sweet! The program will begin in mid-January, when the company opens a Web site where consumers can submit grant proposals and later vote on which proposals should receive funding.
Speaking of Pepsi, I was gabbing with some friends the other day about soft drinks that we wish were still around...does anyone know what happened to Diet Pepsi Jazz Black Cherry French Vanilla? Despite the mouthful of a Diet Pepsi title, it was a pretty tasty, zero-calorie drink sweetened with aspartame and acesulfame potassium! According to Pepsi's Web site, the product is still available - but I certainly haven't seen it gracing any shelves lately so it appears to be only in limited markets. Sigh.
Anyway, here are two of the better Pepsi Super Bowl ads. Enjoy!
