TGIF!

I'm having a day. Seriously. It's been a long, stressful week and I'm tired and have a headache...and I'm hungry. And you know what would really make me happy right now? A giant, greasy cheeseburger or a fried chicken sandwich, some french fries and a "big gulp" sized soda. Fortunately for my waistline, I have learned to maintain control over these types of dietary urges. So instead of driving to the nearest fast food joint, I just dug into a salad with light dressing and had some carrots with dip for lunch. I know, I know...boring. Don't worry, though. I will be indulging tonight but without the weight-related repercussions. I recently discovered Boca's spicy chicken patties. And let me tell ya, they are good and low-calorie. Put one of those on a whole-wheat English muffin, add a little low-fat cheese and mayo and you've got yourself a healthy, delicious alternative of a high-fat treat. And instead of fries, I'll enjoy a handful of ranch-flavored rice cakes. And rather than a huge, sugary soda, I'm going to mix a can of peach Fresca with light cranberry juice. It's the feast of champions!
Speaking of feasts, next week is Restaurant Week in a select few Atlanta neighborhoods. You better believe I'm taking advantage of a few of those deals! I've already got reservations at an Italian restaurant AND a Southern restaurant. Woo hoo! And now that I've started thinking about all that delicious food for reasonable prices, I've talked myself back into a good mood. I heart Fridays.
To conclude this post, here is a happy clip featuring a wonderful meal enjoyed by friends. It's from a little movie called "Goodfellas." Enjoy!
