Johnny Blue Jeans

I think I noticed Michael Ian Black first back on a show called Viva Variety where he played the character Johnny Blue Jeans (he's on the right with Mr. and the Former Mrs. Laupin, natch). Since then, he's appeared in so many funny things like I Love the 80s, Wet Hot American Summer, and Ed. I was really hoping he would win be the host of The Late, Late Show after Craig Kilborn left, but he lost the competition to Craig Ferguson.

So, how does this tie in to diet soda?

Well, I just noticed that Sierra Mist has put up a few of their TV ads, and some that are web only (see here and here). The best (in my opinion) just happens to be one starring Michael Ian Black for their diet soda, Sierra Mist Free . Check it out below. And BONUS, it has Jim Gaffigan too!

Tingle and Bounce

Who knew that the director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and some of my favorite music videos, like Everlong by the Foo Fighters and Lucas With the Lid Off by Lucas, directed two Diet Coke ads back in 2004? Check out Tingle and Bounce below.

Tingle (2004) - dir. Michel Gondry, starring Kate Beckinsale

Bounce (2004) - dir. Michel Gondry, starring Adrien Brody

It's definitely a Diet Coke thing!

Mah Na Mah Na

I had a great idea a few years ago for a TV channel that would only show old commercials, documentaries about commercials, how they were planned, etc. I got the idea from the "retromercials" that they used to show on TV Land. What made me think of it again is how much time I can spend on YouTube watching commercials. This one for Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper isn't that old, but it might be my favorite of all time.

So, what commercials should be in heavy rotation on my channel?
